I heart New York by Lindsey Kelk

After years of not reading anything, I recently gained back my old reading mojo back and I can't be happier. Not only does it mean that I can be one of those people who chills outside in the sunshine with a good book during the day but I can also have a cool down time before bed reading a chapter or two under my cosy duvet before bed, which helps so much for me to go to sleep instead of playing on an electrical device.

What started of this new urge to read is a facebook group I am part of, which is called Wilde Readers. It is the brain child of Louise Pentland (Sprinkle of Glitter) who created the group as a place for people to sit and talk about books and reading with like minded people. After seeing many posts about new book hauls and discussions about books I'd never read, it made me want to read more and more.

So I took a trip to my bookcase and picked up a book I've been wanting to try for ages...I heart New York by Lindsey Kelk.

I was made aware of Lindsey Kelk through an podcast that I listen to which she does with another brit, Harriet Hadfield called Full Coverage. Lindsey on that podcast mentions quite often that she is a writer of books and of course curiosity meant I needed to look up her back catalogue. I wanted to try out one, so I went for Lindsey's first book, I heart New York.

The premise of this story is that Angela, the main character, who lives in the UK finds her fiance in a compromising position during her best friend's wedding, which unravels months of secrets that everyone but Angela knew. This all leads Angela to travel to New York for a get away, even though she knows no one in the city and how she picks herself up and how she moves forward after such a nasty break up.

I don't want to spoil any more of the plot but I will say that every time I finished a chapter I would literally say I Love This Book!! I wanted to keep reading and reading, the characters created by Lindsey were perfect and I could totally imagine them as real people who you could meet on a street or bar in any big city but especially in New York.

I heart New York is the beginning of a series written by Kelk of Angela's adventures finding new love, a new life and going on new adventures.  I will definitely be ordering the next books of the series in my next book order and I can't wait to read more of Lindsey Kelk's books.

Have you read this book or any from the author?
