As you might be aware, I recently celebrated this blog's 3rd Birthday, next year it will be going to primary school and I'll cry as I leave at school for the first time, with it's lunch box and drink in hand.
In all seriousness, this last year of blogging has been really hard and today I thought I'd discuss why I'm happy that my blog is out of the terrible 2's.
I started my blog on the 23rd June 2012 after being inspired by reading Louise's (Sprinkle of Glitter) blog and watching her YouTube videos for a while. I enjoyed her videos the most because to me she was different, she wasn't a size 6/8 girl who loved Topshop and expensive brands (not that that's a problem). Instead she was a plus size girl like me and she was a cool individual.
My first post was an interactive post reponse to something that was on Sprinkle of Glitter and that was something called 7 things for the days of June and it was a list of 7 things I wanted to do before the end of June. From this my blog quickly morphed into a Beauty and Life blog by the name of A Bit of This and That. I loved blogging and I really enjoyed that the people who continually commented became good friends through twitter.
The first year blogging brought a lot of happiness to me, I had finally found a place to share my love of make up, beauty and everything else with anyone who will listen and also gained a few great friends in the process. On my first blog birthday, something else really exciting...I started my YouTube channel. This to this day has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. I love my channel and everything about it. I love to film, chat and even the editing process makes me smile.
The second year blogging still brought me happiness too. I started posting more beauty than life because that's what I thought people would like to read but also because I really enjoyed to write reviews and constantly posting... I was posting 5 times a week. On my second blog birthday, I changed my blog name to The Love of All Things Beauty and I also became a .co.uk domain.
Since this blog's second birthday, I've found it harder to keep to a schedule or think of blog post ideas and I've found it more difficult to come up with things that I was 100% happy with. Blogging has become so much more popular over the last year and I have noticed a few fellow "older blogs" saying recently that they are finding it difficult to keep the enthusiasm going.
In the past year of blogging, the whole community seems to be more competitive and more people are fighting to get samples/products from PRs or just to be as famous as Zoella and chums. In #bbloggers chats, people hardly ever ask for blog links anymore and there are a lot of blog posts around telling bloggers how to make their blogs better.
My blog is my blog and as I am growing older and wiser in the blogging world, I have made the decision to stress less over my blog as in, if I don't blog for a couple of days...that's fine. This blog wasn't created to get me famous or rich, it was created to share my beauty love with the world.
After my blogging break recently, I have started writing down more blog post ideas and I have rediscovered my love for blogging that I had when I started. My blog definitely suffered from the terrible twos, thankfully they're over and everything will now be happier at theloveofallthingsbeauty.co.uk.
Thanks for sticking around and here's to the next blog birthday.
Lots of Love,
