What are you willing to spend more money on?

Hello there,

Today I thought I'd ask you a question. As most of us are rather beauty obsessed, I can probably safely say that most of our bank balances have the words Boots, Space NK or Feel Unique to name but a few making a few appearances.

I can also probably safely say that none of us started our make up life with a large High End make up collection and that it slowly sneaked in and made friends with the high street offerings. But today I ask you this, what are you willing to spend your hard earned dosh on?

I love high end brands as much as the next person but there are some things out there that I know are just as good from the likes of Boots and Superdrug. There are a few things out there that I am more willing to spend more money on than other things though.

For example, my skincare tastes are more on the spendy side. In my head, the better that your skin looks before make up, the better the make up will look after applying it. After much research, I have learnt which brands my skin likes (Origins, Liz Earle and Emma Hardie to name a few) and to my bank balance's dismay most of them are more pricey.

Another area that I am willing to spend a little more money on is foundation. However, this isn't completely down to the finish and feel of the product itself. As I have said before many times, I am a pale faced lady and I have always find that the high street brands struggle with pale shades and their undertones, they are either warm toned (yellow) and not a nice match or they just aren't pale enough for me. I have to give props to Rimmel for their Light Porcelain shade, which is a great pale pink shade, Maxfactor for their Light Ivory shade and L'Oreal for their Rose Ivory shade, but I'm still more a high end lady.

Finally the last part of beauty, I'm happy to splash my cash with is Lipstick. This is not because of the quality is much better than any high street brands because some aren't. It's the packaging that gets me everytime. I mean just look at the picture at the top of this post, Charlotte Tilbury's sleek Rose Gold Packaging, YSL's sleek gold packaging with the branding so subtly placed in the middle... it will beat the High Street everytime hands down in my eyes, I'm a material girl at heart.

What are you willing to spend more money on? Tell me in the comments.

Lots of Love,
Clare

  1. Have to agree with you when it comes to skincare, recently started using the liz earl hot cloth cleanser and my skin has been all the better for it, and i could never be without my benefit brows a go go! Most other things I buy are drugstore, with a few high end pieces mixed in

  2. Like you, I'm willing to spend more on skincare and foundation. I don't mind spending more on blush either! I really like the high street for makeup.

  5. Definitely agree with spending more on skincare as I think it's so worth it, like you say good skin makes any makeup look better :) other than that I guess my thing would be eyeshadow palettes :D

  6. I'm actually not even a beauty lover! I don't understand the amount of makeup and skincare bloggers have or go through. I have never understood why people need more than one black mascara? Surely mascara is mascara!? I understand some are better than others but just use it up and buy a new one when it's finished, that way nothing gets wasted. My skincare is nearly all Superdrug vitamin E range, best I've ever ever used! I'm a convert to actually cleansing haha! My make up, some is expensive (lucky me getting presents!) some isn't, it's all pretty basic and I never feel guilt for buying make up cos I use all I have and I rarely buy anything new :D xo
