Spending Ban Sunday #2 : Shopping the Stash

Hey there,

Week two of the spending ban has been finished and what has happened?
Well on Tuesday I had to make a visit to Primark after work as my work shoes had so many holes in them that they were actually letting water in when it rains. I go through work shoes, which are ballet flats, like no man's business because I'm forever up and down off the floor with the children so I only get cheap Primark ones because spending lots of money would be pointless. In the end, I bought three new pairs of shoes costing a total of £17 but I'm not classing this as a fail in the spending ban because shoes are a necessity.

Also this week I made a trip to Boots because I had completely run out of cotton pads and as I use them daily to remove make up and tone my face I had to pick them up. Whilst I was in there I made the decision to not look at the make up stands because I knew that I might not have resisted on picking up a few things. So I ran straight to where I needed to go and was in and out relatively quickly.

The other thing that I have done this week is have a little shopping the stash moment in my higher end foundation drawer. You see ever since I bought Estee Lauder Double Wear in June, it has been the foundation I have been leaning to for every occasion and I thought this week I would have a play around with a few different foundations instead of Double Wear, all of which I used to love at different times but all I've forgot since DW arrived on the scene.

Let's start with MAC Studio Fix Fluid (third from the left) as it is the first one I loved in fact it was my first "high end" foundation. When I applied it this week I remembered why I loved it. It has a lovely semi matte finish on my skin and the coverage is pretty full, plus it is a great colour match for my pale pale skin. I have the colour NW10 and it is a wonderful match. One thing I do have to mention is that if you skin has any dryness it will cling to it and it looks really icky as the side of my nose found out this week... combination skinned ladies are you with me?  This foundation loves oily skin though.

Next let's talk about NARS Sheer Glow. I have it in the shade Mont Blanc and there is something about this shade that is a tiny bit too yellow for me BUT after a while and a little powder it looks fine. It leaves your skin looking glowy but not shiney. It's a lovely foundation but not one I can wear everyday.

The other foundation that I have put on trial this week is Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, which I have in the shade 2. I believe this is the lightest shade and like the Sheer Glow, it's a tad yellow but it does match a little better after about 10 minutes wear (if that makes sense). It's a lovely foundation but if I had my time again, I'm unsure at the moment whether I'd repurchase it. Out of the three I've revisited this week Luminous Silk is the foundation I've used the the least as I bought it for a possible wedding foundation but never used it. So I'm going to keep trying with this foundation otherwise I've thrown away a rather large chunk of money on a foundation.

I have enjoyed shopping my stash this week as it's given me a chance to play with products I haven't used for a while and I'm definitely going to do this again soon. But for next week's SBS post I'm thinking either a wishlist or a products that I never use post...which would you prefer?

Lots of Love,

  1. I need to go on a shopping ban ASAP! The Nars foundation is great. x

  2. I haven't tried any of these foundations but I really want to try the NARS and the Estee Lauder ones, as they sound like they would suit my skin. Shopping the stash can be so good when you come across things that have been left untouched for months on end! x

  3. "I'm not classing this as a fail in the spending ban because shoes are a necessity." haha, I love how we try to justify everything! Who am I kidding?!

  4. I really like shopping the stash posts :) Funny how you found mont blanc too yellow, I found it way too pink!
