Has Blogging has Changed Me as a Person?

Hey there,

This blog has been online now for two years and about 3 months and in that time my life has changed. Let's do a bit of time travel shall we?

Just over two years ago, I was just finishing a Level 3 Teaching Assistant NVQ and I had been a youtube video watcher for a good 2 years previous to that but I had learnt some of my favourites had a blog and I started reading through them. After much deliberation I decided to have a go at blog writing and I started with my first post which went up in July 2012.

Back in 2012, most of my time was spent either working for my NVQ or I was sat around the house, occasionally catching up with my school/university friends when they were free. I spent a lot of my time feeling down, lonely and not really talking to anyone but my parents and brother.

The problem I have always had is my self confidence/shyness. I have always been the "quiet one" at parties and nights out, I will always be hiding away in the corner, I've actually heard people ask friends I've been with if I'm ok. I used to get very nervous in new situations and I never wanted any attention on me. If you want to know a bit more about my shyness/self confidence issues, check out the video below.

I bet you are now wondering if I don't like attention or anyone looking my way, why am I a blogger/youtuber that has to take pictures and film myself. Well I have an answer for you, I feel like I'm a different person when I blog/vlog. It's like I have a much better more confident alter ego when I blog or when I vlog. I was recently speaking to Beth from Beauty in Beta about this all and she is the same, in fact she just wrote a post about this which I'll link to HERE.

So has blogging changed me? I'm not sure...At meet ups and events, I'm still the quiet, shy one. I'm not sure that'll ever change, I've been like this for 24 years and I don't think I'll ever get past that.

But one thing has changed... I now have an amazing support system around me that I can go to anytime I need and their name is Twitter. You guys who follow me are always there for a quick DM chat if I need it and I can't thank you all enough especially Beth (Beauty in Beta... Love that girl) and the many people who helped me through my London Train debacle in August. I know that when I'm having what I like to call my "funk days" when I feel down and alone, that I have always got someone I can chat to and for that reason I am so happy that I started blogging.

So there you go, a little insight into my world.

Lots of Love,
Clare

  1. I completely relate to this! I think the blogging community is very different to the real world and many people don't like friends or family looking at their blog - just bloggers! I think people can always come across differently behind a computer to real life, but blogging is such a fun way to express yourself and communicate, and many people use it as an opportunity to almost create their own identities!
