Wedding Make Up Prep...What I need to pack

Hey there,

So you might know that at the end of the month, I am going to be a bridesmaid at my oldest friend's wedding. I have said to the bride and the bridesmaids that I will be sharing my vast make up collection and some of my skills (if they want them) to make things easier on the wedding day.

As I have said to the bridesmaids and bride, I have a great love for make up and really enjoy the application process as much as the wearing of it, so I am very willing to help out in this area of the wedding day.

The thing is, the wedding is taking place about an hour and a half away from where I live in a place called Loughborough which means I will be staying in a hotel for a few days and that means I need to pack well. So here is what I think I need to pack:
  • Primer: I'm not usually a primer wearer but I think it will be needed to make sure I still have my face intact all day. I think I'm going to take my Witch Primer or Benefit Porefessional.
  • Foundation: Something long lasting, that I won't have to worry about over the day. My current thought is Estee Lauder Double Wear but I haven't completely decided.
  • Concealer: Something to cover the bags under my eyes and hide any spots I might have. I'm thinking MAC Pro Longwear (that baby does not budge) or NARS Creamy Concealer.
  • Powder: Something I can use to touch up if I need to during the day to rid my face of any kind of shine. I'm thinking my trusty MAC Studio Fix Powder.
  • Eyeshadow: This is something that all the bridesmaids are going to have the same. I suggested to the bride that we all have a simple nudey gold eye...something simple with a little shimmer so I am going to be taking my MAC Warm Neutrals Palette.
  • Mascara: This is something I haven't thought of too much until recently. With mascara I need something that won't budge, will give me a good lash and won't run in case I tear up at any time. I'm currently thinking Benefit They're Real but I'm up for suggestions.
  • Blush: I'm taking a few with me as I can't decide what everyone will suit. My current plan is to take MAC Warm Soul, MAC Well Dressed and Natural Collection Pink Cloud.
  • Highlighter: The bride has asked me to bring a highlighter with me... I'm going to bring two with me... MUA Undress Your Skin Highlighter and MAC Soft and Gentle because she then has the choice between a more pink highlight or a more gold highlight.
  • Lipliner: Normally I'm not the biggest wearer of a lipliner however I think it could be useful to wear to prolong the wear of the lipstick. I'm planning on taking two... MAC Subculture and Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pink Venus.
  • Lipstick: Now this is one thing that I have been thinking about A LOT. I knew that it would be a nudey pink since I knew what our bridesmaid dresses were like. The thing is the skin tones of the lovely ladies who are bridesmaids and the bride are all different, so this means a lipstick that might suit me could look horrible on one of the other girls, so I have been deliberating and have put together a handful I'm going to take, this currently includes MAC Shy Girl, MAC Creme Cup, Estee Lauder Pure Envy Lipstick in Desirable, Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick in Bitch Perfect, MAC Hue and MAC Viva Glam V. I think I've got all bases covered there.
As well as this I will be taking rather a lot of brushes so that everyone has brushes to use... I have a set of Zoeva coming as well as two sets from Amazon... cue a post when they arrive. Do you think I've got everything covered? Do I need anything else? Tell me in the comments.

Lots of Love,
Clare

  1. Sounds like it, but make sure the foundation/Primer you pick has a very low SPF so it doesn't flash back! Also, don't forget an eye primer! :) What about contour/lashes/setting spray?? Btw I did my own wedding make up, not just being a weirdo! ;) xx

    1. My foundation has an SPF of 10 and primer will have nothing. Eye primer I'm taking a couple of paint pots as they are my normal primer of choice. I never contour, lashes freak me out and setting spray I've just bought Urban Decay All Nighter which I'll be taking too.. Thanks for the comment. I know you're not a weirdo :p xxx
