What I never did before blogging....the beauty edition

Hello lovelies,

I thought today I would tell you about what blogging has made me begin to do. I've called this the beauty edition because thinking about it there are probably things I never did fashion wise before I blogged so maybe I'll leave those for another post. So if you are all sitting comfortably I shall begin...

1. Before blogging, I never properly used brushes to apply my make up. In fact, I only used one for foundation that I bought off Amazon for about £1.50 (which I don't use any more)  and that was about it. Now I have I'd say about 20 brushes (not that I use all in one go) and I love the finish I can get through using brushes... It is a chore sometimes washing them all though..

2. Until two months ago, I never wore eyeliner. I was/am always scared of poking me eye out with the pencil or making myself look like a panda. However, since I sat in the chair at MAC in Birmingham and a lovely MUA put a little bit of brown liner on the outer half of the eye on both top and bottom, my fear has got slightly less.

3. Another thing I have only begun doing recently, which I'd never had done before blogging is applying my concealer in a v shape. Now what I mean by this is to put a "v" from one side of the eye down to the tip of the nostril and back up... that probably makes no sense. Would you like a post explaining this?

4. Before I started to blog, I had never gone anywhere near a MAC counter. Thats right, before I began writing my rambles for the whole world to see I'd never looked at MAC or even looked anywhere but Boots for my make up. Now I own 15 MAC Lipsticks, 8 eyeshadows, 2 Mineralized Skin Finishes and 1 Paint Pot.... oops

5. Before I blogged, I never swatched in store... I just guessed... so bad I know. This probably explains why my earliest foundations were slightly orange on my face (but my paleness didn't help)

6. Until very recently I never used bronzer. I always got scared that I'd just end up looking like a face on Snog, Marry, Avoid before they do the make under. After visiting the Lancome event  and learning about the magic three technique from the lovely Lydia, I have started getting used to playing around with it.. I only have one bronzer (from Jelly Pong Pong) and I want to discover a better one. Any suggestions?

7. I never wore colour on my lips before I began to blog. It would either be nothing or a nudey pink before I began my blog last June. Now nothing will stop me... MAC Rebel, Rimmel Apocoliptic, Revlon Lip Butter in Lollipop... I love them all.

8. My Skincare routine was shocking before I began to blog. Through reading other people's blogs I found that I needed to change my routine and the products I was using as well (or lack of them... I was all about the cleansing wipes and nothing else). Now my skin seems to love me more and my breakouts are less scary.

9. I was a face mask virgin before blogging. I'm still relatively new to a face mask but I never saw the point before blogging haha.

10. The final one for today... Before I started to blog I never used a highlighter. In fact before blogging I never knew what one was for...now I use MAC Soft and Gentle on a daily basis.

After reading this, I bet you're wondering what I used to look like before blogging and why I actually got into blogging. There are my confessions, what are yours, what did you never do before blogging? I want to know in the comments.

Till Next Time,

Clare xx

  1. So jealous of your collection of mac lipsticks, I've only recently, this year started wearing lipsticks but now I love them and need to get my collections up! It would be nice if you did a post on them!

  2. Blogging has absolutely skinted me! I buy so much more stuff now - but I'm not complaining. I love trying all the latest brands and cosmetics. If it wasn't for me reading others blogs I wouldn't have known about Real Techniques brushes either!

    1. I know what you mean... Without blogging I think I'd be a lot richer, however I wouldn't have met so many lovely people that I couldn't live without now xx

  6. LOVED THIS POST! As usual Clare, you're probably not even surprised by that ;)

Here is my confession... before blogging I never ever researched products. If I liked the look of the packaging.. I bought it whether it suited me or worked for me, I didn't even care. Now I do research before buying any products!

Can't believe you'd never been near a MAC counter.. tsk.. I've been at MAC since I was 18!

  7. This is a great idea for a post! Before blogging I had a very small make up collection - it fitted in one large case. Now I'm bursting out of a huge dressing table! I might do a post like this - if I do I will link to you. x x

    1. I am just like you. Before blogging I only had one foundation, concealer, mascara. Now I've got far too much for one face but I would never change it :) xx
