Curvy Girl does Peplum?

Hey Lovelies,

So last friday I posted a rather large haul ( you can read that post HERE). One item I picked up was a peplum top. When I ordered it, I was unsure what I thought of the whole peplum style, especially being the size and shape I am.

I am not a stick thin blogger by any means I have a cracking pair of breasts, a tummy and wide-ish hips. It was my hips/tummy area that worried me about peplum, because it is there that it flares out. I was scared that it would just create a neon style sign with arrows to my least favourite bits of me that would flash and make siren noises to draw attention to where I don't want it.

I decided to wear the top to college this week and here is my OOTD from then...

I actually like how it looks. It seems to skim over my hips, the same way that skater skirts do. I actually thought I looked a little simple so I paired it with a simple face and hair combo and just a little pop of colour in the shape of a blue necklace.

I'd just like to say thank you to all the lovely people that said nice things about my top on twitter, when I posted a picture. What do you think of the peplum style? What do you wear it with? Leave me a comment.

Till Next Time,
Clare xxx

  2. Love a peplum! I carry my weight mostly around the middle and they help give me a bit of waist definition :-) Love this top on you.

  3. I havent bought a peplum even though everyone seems to talk about them only because I have large boobies for a small person and I fear it'll make me look like a shlumppph! x

  5. I think it suits you. If you have boobs this probably gives more of an hour glass shape than just "Hey look at these hips!" (which is what would happen with me).

  8. This top looks lovely on you :) I have steered away from peplum tops worrying they wouldn't be flattering but I'm quite tempted to try now! x

  10. Hi Clare,

I think this top looks great on you! I'm a similar shape and was a little hesitant about peplum but once I tried it on I really liked it, I only have a plain black peplum dress at the moment but I think I'm going to buy a top as well, I feel like it accentuates and covers all the right bits!

  11. My sister is a curvy girl too and she swears by peplum tops as they are really flattering on bellies and hips. I'd love to give one a shot.
